When it comes to interlibrary loan, AGent/SHAREit is not the only resource that you
have available. We have collections full of fantastic materials in public libraries across the state, but
sometimes you just can’t find what a patron is looking for, no matter how hard you try. Don’t fret!
The regional library system, as a whole, participates in OCLC WorldShare, which means we have
access to public and academic library collections from across the US, including the academics in
Tennessee. (Note that this service is meant to supplement AGent/SHAREit, and is not a substitute
for it.) So if you’ve ever wondered if you can make ILL requests out of state, the answer is a big yes!
OCLC ILL opens up a whole new world of materials and collections from which we can request items
for our patrons, but this is only one of the benefits of using this service. There are two Group Access
Capability (GAC) representatives in the Tennessee regional system, and our job is to find the
requested items for you, submit your requests to potential lenders, and keep track of them every
stage along the way, including:
All you need to do is submit the request and keep us updated about when you receive and return
the item, and we handle the rest! Also, we only borrow from consortia that are willing to lend their
materials at no charge, so the only costs to you that are associated with this service (not including
replacement costs for lost materials) are for shipping the materials back to the lender.
